~ Prayers Requested ~

I'm sure everyone has heard that AMR, the parent company of American Airlines and American Eagle, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy today. I spent 30 years with American prior to early retirement in '03. How this will affect my pension is unknown and very, very unsettling. I don't know when we'll have answers. This is really a time to walk the talk and have total faith in God.  At the moment, I'm not in the mood for much of anything.  I would really appreciate your good thoughts, prayers, positive energy, etc.

Pensions are protected. At least that's what I have always thought. I can't believe how an airline of that magnitude could go bankrupt! Need better regulation to keep fairs in line I guess. I will definitely say a prayer but please keep your chin up. One day at a time.......((hugs))

I finally had a moment to pull up the blog and your post was at the top of my list. I will certainly be praying that things work out for you. My husband was home for lunch and I asked about his pension since he works for a major company as well. He said that supposedly after Enron, companies had to insure pension plans so that it could never happen again. I certainly hope he is right and I hope you find out something quickly, as I know that you will be stressed out worrying about it. Hugs.

Sorry to hear that Pat. I'm sure you're very stressful right now. Just remember the Lord is with us and he never gives us more than we can handle.

I will be praying, Mary O

Pat, I will certainly keep you and the other pension recipients lifted up in prayer. I pray that there will be an answer about your benefits very soon, and that the answer is satisfactory… keeping all your current and future benefits in place. It seems as if we are all living in very trying times right now and our futures are starting to look uncertain, but remember that “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

I'm so sorry, Pat! But do not fear what you do not know yet. Remember, GOD is your provider, not American Airlines, not your pension or retirement disbursement companies. He knows your needs, and he tells us, "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread."
Psalm 37:25

I saw this on the morning news and it really bothered me. They are only in chapter 11 for protection.. hopefully they can stall their creditors for a while and get their act together.. that means the employees and retirement should get paid until they can catch up.. but as you know so many airlines have had this problem. It's just so expensive to operate...
I am praying all the retirement payments will still be as usual...
The size and destinations world wide of AA, I always thought they were safe from large money problems... too bad!
As a kid we lived through Eastern Airlines going through this. My Pilot Father had to leave the country to work due to the union... we ended up in Germany while he worked for Lufthansa but Eastern never recovered.
Will keep my fingers crossed for you.. don't stress just yet, it may all turn out ok in a few months?
Good Luck Pat!
Sandy

Pat...I am so sorry! My hubby and I will pray tonight for you to have peace. Sometimed it is in the worst of situations that God gives us the deepest of peace. "Do not forget in the night what God has shown you in the day.". Love to you.
