~ 7 Side Effects of Soda ~

I'll be honest...I've been addicted to Pepsi for years. It became my "comfort" drink during the 9/11 events. We had to work 12 hour days, 6 days a week, mandatory. When I stopped the coffee mid-morning, I then started on Pepsi. It has been extremely difficult to give it up!  It's been a few months since I've had one and I don't keep them at home anymore. I always knew these drinks were not good for us but, in doing research, I've really found out a lot. This is an example:

I've never been able to drink diet drinks at all. The Aspartame triggers migraines plus I get the shakes...honest!  If you do some further research on Aspartame, it has been linked to fibromyalgia, MS and many other illnesses. I drink tons of water daily and often add slices of lemon, lime, orange, cucumbers, etc. Very tasty and refreshing in this heat!

Just an fyi in case you were not aware!

I remember back in the 80's when they said "Coke takes off rust".. I gave up soda of any kind. No Soda came into my house and my adult kids today do not drink soda... it scared me. Useless stuff to say the least. Your list is even scarier!
Thanks for posting this, maybe more people will keep it out of their children's body's.
BTW, diet sodas are worse than the sugar kind...
Good luck with your giving it up.

Wow..that's awful, but they still sell it in the thousands a day! I don't understand why the government allows this consumption..

I love pepsi - can't help it - hate the diet pepsi - but all of it's bad for us.
Did not have it growing up - never bought it myself when the kids were growing up - met John and Voila - semi - sort of - addicted. :(

We are not huge soda drinkers, I am more of a coffee girl. I allow my boys one coke a day, and sometimes they don't even drink that. Congrats on giving it up Pat!

My husband and I used to be big time soda drinkers, but when he found out he had diabeties we had to change to new habits and especially one that a whole new way of eating and drinking.

I always try to give up soda, but somehow I always go back to it. I'm hoping this post has scared me enough to quit.

I avoid it also - and aspartame definitely triggers migraines. My husband is a Pepsi-aholic. I so wish he would give it up.
XO,

I am not surprised by these facts. I don't like colas but I do treat myself to an occasional diet Dr. Pepper or root beer.

My drink used to be diet pepsi but gave it up about 8 years ago. As you have discovered so bad for you!!! These new sweeten teas are not much better, every time my husband has one, I tell him he is rotting his teeth. Congrats on kicking the habit! Laura

Great post and hope it enlightens those who did not know. I quit drinking soda in the 70's and have never gone back to it. Raised my children without it too, and they still do not drink it as young adults. Truly, it's poison and should be avoided!

Good for you on giving them up! I'm not a soda drinker at all. I drink tons and tons of water and do the same as you and add lemon or lime to shake it up. My big splurge ocassionaly is iced tea! but not even that very often. Great info.

I do drink diet soda even though I know I shouldn't. One Diet Coke a day and them maybe a Diet 7 UP after dinner. Never knew about the connection to migraines. Definitely food for thought. Thank you for sharing...

Thanks for the information ...I'm glad you cut the soda and enjoy some healthy drinks now. I think water with a slice of citrus is the best too. :)
